Grant Notification 2024
MAJOR NEWS!!!!!!!.......AGAIN!!!!!!!

The Hartford Fire Department was recently awarded a SECOND federal grant from AFG!!! This very specific grant is larger and focuses on apparatus replacement for Fire Departments and will allow us to purchase a new tanker to replace our old, outdated one! The truck that this is replacing is almost 50 years old and is to the point that it is costing too much for the repairs and upkeep. This grant could not have come at a better time for our community!! The cost of this truck is covered by the grant funds, funds from our many fundraisers the Hartford Fire Department Enterprise puts on, and funds saved and set aside for just such an occasion.

MAJOR NEWS!!!!!!

The Hartford Fire Department was recently awarded a federal grant from AFG (Assistance to Firefighters Grant) in the amount of $133,333.33 to purchase new Drager Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)!!! This Piece of equipment is used when entering an environment that may have contaminated air. Without these vital tools, our firefighters would not be able to perform their roles as emergency responders. These new masks have bluetooth technology allowing each person wearing one to communicate through the headpiece. These will be replacing all of our currently in-use SCBAs that are no longer compliant and difficult to find parts for.

We have a new Paramedic in the making!! Micah DuShane has stepped up to the challenge and started Paramedic School this month! Way to go Micah and trust the process! You will do great things!

A Special Guest at Open House
October 11, 2016

Picture
In the early morning of August 6th, this gentleman was having one of the worst days of his life. He was on a sandbar in the Des Moines river camping and having a near fatal heart attack. With a orchestrated response of several agencies the Hartford FD backup rescue boat was launched and picked him up and got him to safety. Life saving measures were given and as a result he is with us today. He stopped by our open house tonight to say hi and was very grateful and thankful. Some hugs, some laughs and even some tears from us. Glad to see him walking and able to come visit us tonight.

Special Equipment
October 11, 2016

Picture
HVFD received a grain bin rescue set that was purchased with fund from a private donor. A huge thank you to the donor!  Our members will take time to learn how to use the system.  Several lives are saved each year in Iowa due to equipment like this.

If you would like to find out more or how to donate to the department for further assistance in grain bin rescue please reach out to Chief Prickett.

When there's a call, we come from many walks of life, leave our jobs and family to help yours. In this case farmers left the field to come help!  We have such a great group of members on our department.  Our community only deserves the best, and that's what our community has!  - Photo from Lt. Atkin
