Medic 234 -

Medic 234 is a Paramedic provisional level ambulance that carries equipment our medics use to perform live saving procedures during emergencies. Our medics train regularly and must obtain continuing education credit hours to remain certified at state and national levels.

Utility 529 -
​
529 is our ATV used for both EMS rescue and fire suppression. This ATV was donated to the department from Struther's Brothers in Des Moines.  This unit is towed on a trailer by Command 520 or Attack 528.  This unit is in service and loaded on a trailer when not in use for quick response.

CPR

CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It is an emergency lifesaving procedure that is done when someone's breathing or heartbeat has stopped. This may happen after an electric shock, heart attack, or drowning. CPR combines rescue breathing and chest compressions.

AED

An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in a patient, and is able to treat them through defibrillation, the application of electrical therapy which stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm.

Trauma

Trauma is a term which refers to physical injuries of sudden onset and severity which require immediate medical attention. The insult may cause systemic shock called “shock trauma”, and may require immediate resuscitation and interventions to save life and limb.
