Training

-  The Hartford Fire Department holds training activities every Monday evening at 7pm.  On occasion additional training is scheduled at other times.  Each member is required to meet the state defined training hours per year to remain an active member.  Each member puts on average 80 to 100 hours per year of training while on the Hartford Fire Department.  Some members seek outside training and end up with over 200 hours per year.  "Train today for tomorrows success." - Chief Prickett

Live Fire Training
April 30, 2016

Members of the Hartford Fire Department were able to take place in a live training exercise with the Indianola Fire department.  This was a great opportunity to get some pump training in on New Engine 521, as well as getting newer members in to a controlled live fire scenario. Thank you Indianola for the invite, our members had a great time.

Hydrant Hooking
Monday February 22nd

Members of the HVFD participated in a very important hands on training on Monday February 22nd.  HVFD members "hooked hydrants" with Engine 521 and Engine 522 in town.  This drill took place from 7pm to 10pm.  Members were able to obtain some very important night training during this drill.  Each member was able to catch the hydrant and pull a hose line off the truck and spray water.

Members of the HVFD hosted a Hand Tools Class
Monday February 15th,2016

Fred Melvin was kind enough to bring some friends along to teach a very nice class on Hand Tools.  Fred showed members of the HVFD how minor altercations can make a huge impact on how tools can be used to a firefighter's advantage.  Thank you very much for coming to spend a few hours in our house Fred!
